Dr. Chidi Lloyd, a former lawmaker in Rivers state has lost properties worth millions following an attack on his house by hoodlums in Akpabu community, Emohua local government area of the state.
According to a report on The Punch, the attack on Lloyd’s house came barely 24 hours he suffered a heavy setback as an Appeal Court upheld the election of Sam Ogeh, his opponent in the March 19, 2016 Rivers state House of Assembly rerun election.

Lloyd, a former leader of the State House of Assembly, contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Ogeh vied for the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
However, sources claim the attack on Lloyd’s house was carried out by hoodlums, who wore military camouflage and invaded his home at around 8pm on Wednesday night, September 21.
It was gathered that the arsonists set ablaze some aspects of Lloyd’s building and were making their way to the main building before security operatives intervened.
A community source, Chijioke (surname withheld), told The Punch that the arsonists invaded the community and caused anxiety with heavy gunfire.
Chijioke noted that the security quarters and the visitors’ lodge were burnt by the hoodlums, whose identities are yet unknown.
According to him, properties worth millions of naira were burnt at the guest house and in the security building.
The source said: “The building of former leader of Rivers State House of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd, has been burnt by unknown persons. The security room and the boys’ quarters were burnt. They did not touch the main building.”
On his part, Lloyd has confirmed the attack on his house. He said that a group of men in military camouflage invaded his house and set it ablaze.

He also revealed that he had earlier received a threat message by a person suspected to be a cult member before the arson.
Reacting after, the Commissioner of Police, Francis Odesanya, said the incident was caused by fire, adding that the main building was not burnt.
NAIJ.com recalls that Lloyd, who lost in the March 19 re-run election in Rivers state, first sought the nullification of the election result at the election petition tribunal.
However, the Rivers election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja, upheld the election of the candidate of the PDP, Sam Ogeh of Emohua state constituency last month.
