Recession: Governors move to save Buhari’s ministers from sack

Nigerian governors have absolved the minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun, and the minister of budget and national planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma of any blame regarding the declining economy.

Vanguard reports that the governors on Thursday, September 22, passed a vote of confidence on both ministers, saying they were not responsible for plunging the country into recession.

The governors’ faulted the National Assembly’s call for the removal of the two ministers, whom they accused of not knowing what to do in order to bail the nation out of the economic straits.

The governors passed the vote on the ministers during the meeting of the National Economic Council, (NEC) presided over by Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, at the State House.

The state governors passed their implicit confidence on the two ministers, noting that the two ministers should be commended for their sagacity in reviving the ailing economy occasioned by failing oil price, Nigeria’s major income earner, over the years.
