President Muhammadu Buhari has held bilateral meeting the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly in New York.
United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, told Buhari tha world leaders respected Nigerian leader.
Ban Ki-Moon has commended President Buhari for his war against graft and terrorism. He also told the Nigerian leader that the world respect him for giving Nigeria a positive image.
The UN official said: “You are highly respected by world leaders, including myself. Your person has given your country a positive image.”

According to him, the UN recognized the achievements of the Buhari government against Boko Haram, advising that human rights be upheld always, to prevent a repeat of the scenario being witnessed in Syria.

The Nigerian leader has arrived in United States of America on September 18, Sunday, ahead of his participation at the 71st session of the UNGA.
Buhari and his US counterpart, President Barack Obama, met on September 20, Tuesday. The duo discussed the challenges currently facing Nigeria.

The 71st UN General session is Buhari’s second appearance since he was inaugurated as Nigeria’s president on May 29, 2015.
